For a way to celebrate mom this Mother's Day — other than a delicious brunch — check out the SunSplash Family Water Park and Gator Mike’s Family Fun Park.

SunSplash is hosting a Mother’s Day Celebration on Sunday, May 12, with free admission for moms. She will get a special Superhero cape and enjoy great deals all day long on specialty cocktails, including many a mom’s favorite, Mimosas. There’s also food and sweets to make a day out of it—without having to cook.

Many moms love the Main Stream River Tube Ride for relaxation and kicking back. The ride is a quarter mile and passes by Lake Kennedy and other park attractions. They can also kick back in a shaded chair.

“After the river, it’s my favorite spot,” says Miranda Jones of Cape Coral.

And there’s plenty of fun for those moms who want to push it to the extreme. For instance, the X-celerator is the park’s steepest, fastest, and most extreme attraction. This speed slide drops guests down five stories of open chute at speeds up to 40 feet per second and 30 mph. Or the Thunder Bump, a 264-foot-long slide that features several steep bumps that give the feeling of going airborne. The young ones can stay occupied at the Pirates Cove with slides, blasters, gushers, blasters, and more. Watch for upcoming events and specials throughout the season on their website, including the Memorial Day Weekend Celebration from May 25-27, where active and retired members of the Military, with valid Military ID, get one free admission.

Gator Mike’s Family Fun Park promises endless for the whole family. This year, the on-site Mellow Mushroom should be open in time for Mother’s Day. On a trip to the park, one can enjoy jumping through aerial ropes, racing Go-Kars, soaring through the air on zip lines, or throwing axes. Or, perhaps, doing something a little quieter, like playing miniature golf. Inside, there’s a cutting-edge arcade and a snack bar with food and drinks, like personal pizzas, popcorn, and slushies. There are also adult beverages. Check the website for specials and events.
