CAPE CANAVERAL — One person was found dead Saturday afternoon after a fire at a condominium building, authorities said.

Cape Canaveral and Brevard County fire rescue crews and sheriff's deputies were called at about 1:53 p.m. Saturday to reports of a fire at the Ocean Oaks Condominiums at 8700 Ridgewood Ave. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze to one apartment in the five-story tower.

Firefighters searched the residence and found the body of the person.

"The damage to the condos is limited to one isolated apartment and all other units and their occupants are safe and sound," Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said in a Facebook post. "Unfortunately, while responding to the call, fire/rescue team members discovered a deceased person inside the apartment."

No age or gender of the person was given. The cause of the fire was not immediately released. Brevard homicide agents and a forensic team also responded to the site. A death investigation is ongoing.
