PLAIN TWP. ‒ The Plain Township Fire Department and the Ohio State Fire Marshal are asking the public for information about an arson fire that occurred Wednesday at a garage and warehouse on Harrisburg Road.

"The fire has been classified as an arson fire after investigators have ruled out other causes," Fire Chief Charles Shalenberger wrote in an email.

The value of the building at 2926 Harrisburg Road NE has been raised to $275,000, and the contents, to $100,000. Original estimates of the value were lower. Shalenberger said there is no insurance on the building.

The building contained cars, hubcaps and miscellaneous equipment.

A reward of $5,000 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the fire. Anyone who has information should contact the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728 or the Plain Township Fire Department at 330-492-2411.
