A Canton man has been arrested after authorities say that he charged at a woman and two deputies with knives.
Timothy Luke Matthews, 37, of Canton was arrested by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Saturday.
According to a warrant filed May 28 by the sheriff’s office, he is charged with the following felonies: two counts of felony aggravated assault against a peace officer, one count of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of methamphetamine. He additionally faces a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing — damage to property.
According to the warrant, between 7:05 and 9 p.m. Saturday Matthews charged at a woman in his house with a knife, and also charged at two deputies with two knives raised and pointed toward them. He is also accused of ripping a TV off of a wall and throwing it to the ground, as well as throwing and breaking a blue bowl.
Deputies also found a pill bottle containing methamphetamine in his possession, according to the warrant.
As of Wednesday, Matthews remained at the Cherokee County jail, with bond set at $21,375, according to Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Patty Pan.
