CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. – Cannon AFB will host its first airshow since 2018. The airshow, Wings Over Cannon, is scheduled for April 22, 2023. Gates will open at 9:00 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Headlining the show will be the Air Combat Command’s A-10C Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team. The A-10C Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team, stationed out of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, travels to airshows around the country to showcase the unique combat capabilities of the A-10 Thunderbolt, a close air support aircraft that provides invaluable protection to troops on the ground.

Our very own Air Commandos will highlight their capabilities during a capabilities exercise (CAPEX) consisting of the AC130J Ghostrider, MC-130J Commando II, U-28A Draco, CV-22 Osprey, and Special Tactics Airmen. Spectators will also witness the MQ-9 Reaper in flight.

Visitors will see a flyover of a B1B Lancer out of Dyess Air Force Base, a performance by the U.S. Air Force Academy Aerobatic Glider Demonstration Team and a flyover of a KC-135 Stratotanker from March Air Force Base. Additionally, there will be a various assortment of modern and historic aircraft and equipment static displays.

The airshow will also feature an entire hangar dedicated to STEM education featuring several displays and interactive activities, that will appeal to people of all ages.

“We are extremely happy to be able to open our gates to the community,” said Colonel Terence Taylor, 27th Special Operations Wing commander. “The Air Force values and relies on public trust to carry out our mission. Air Shows give us an opportunity to engage, educate, and inspire attendees. By showcasing the warwinning capabilities of the Air Force and the 27th Special Operations Wing, the public and local community have a better understanding of how Cannon Air Force Base contributes to national defense, and what the men and women of Team Cannon do to protect our nation. We look forward to hosting everyone here at Cannon Air Force Base on April 22 for Wings Over Cannon!”
