A multi-state investigation involving several law enforcement agencies has recovered over 300 thousand dollars worth of stolen heavy equipment, at a Western North Carolina business.

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office says a search warrant executed at Rom Customs in Candler uncovered stolen excavators, tractors and equipment trailers.

32 year old, Alexander Cochran Herlocker was arrested and is charged with multiple counts of possession of stolen goods, altering or removing serial numbers, larceny and possessing equipment stolen from a construction site.

The Sheriff's Office says one of the excavators had been stolen from the Charleston area. Herlocker was identified as a suspect in equipment theft incidents throughout the Carolinas.
