Search is on: Canby SD in midst of superintendent hunt

The Canby School Board is in the process of looking for a new leader for the Canby School District.

They began the process on May 29 and decided to seek a permanent superintendent with the help of a recruitment firm.

They hired McPherson and Jacobson, L.L.C. as their consultant to guide them through the selection process and then asked the community for input via a survey, receiving more than 200 responses.

“We appreciate the strong work Dr. Downs and his team have accomplished over the last three years and look forward to continuing this momentum with our next superintendent,” Board Chair Sara Magenheimer said. “The board is working under an accelerated timeline to select and hire Canby’s next superintendent and appreciates the input the community has provided in this process.”

The board is currently in the process of vetting candidates, and intend to hold interviews on June 28 with hopes of a July 15 start date.

Should the board choose, they have kept the option open to shift course and select an interim superintendent.
