LaRue Co. man dies after driving into Green River Lake

A LaRue County man has died after driving into Green River Lake.

Monday afternoon at approximately 5:45, Campbellsville Fire and Rescue and other first responders were dispatched to Green River Lake on the report of a vehicle entering the water, with the driver, 69-year-old Rodney D. Lewis, of Buffalo, entrapped.

Upon arriving at the scene, a special operations diver performed a bounce dive and located the vehicle approximately 50-feet from the shore and in 12-feet of water, according to Campbellsville Fire and Rescue.

The diver was able to remove Lewis from vehicle through the driver’s door at 6:02. Resuscitation efforts were undertaken on shore but the victim was later pronounced deceased at Taylor Regional Hospital.

Kentucky Fish & Wildlife personnel and the Taylor County Coroner’s Office are leading the investigation.
