Camillus police looking for man with gun after Walmart employee injured, cops say

Update: Camillus Walmart customer upset with ATM machine points gun at employee who trips, falls

Camillus, N.Y. — Police responded to the Camillus Walmart Monday evening after an employee was reported injured by a man who was carrying a handgun, according to the Camillus Police Department.

Someone called 911 at 4:56 p.m. to report a man believed to be between 30 and 50 years old had a black pistol in the store and had threatened employees with the gun, according to 911 center dispatches.

Shortly before 6 p.m., Camillus police turned to social media to let the public know they responded to the Walmart Supercenter at 5399 W. Genesee St. because an employee was injured by an unknown suspect “reportedly in possession of a handgun,” according to a post on Twitter.

It was not immediately known how the Walmart employee was injured or how seriously.

Police described the suspect as a white man, with a dark T-shirt and pants, a cowboy hat, with a long grayish-black beard. The suspect was last seen on foot in the area of Kasson Road, police said.

Police ask anyone with any information or if anyone sees someone matching the description of the suspect to call 911.

No other information was immediately available.
