City manager or strong mayor?

Charter Review Committee, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. This group remaking the city’s 80-year-old governing document laid the groundwork at its last meeting to tackle the question of keeping the city manager form of government or switching to electing a strong mayor. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.

School district’s budget plan

Virtual Special Meeting of the School Committee, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. This is a budget workshop for review of the proposed 2024 fiscal year budget. Televised and online.

Le petit France in Kendall

Planning Board, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Loic Le Garrec continues his re-expansion from Petit Robert Bistro in Boston’s South End, asking the board to allow his takeover of the former Barismo (and then Covid test) site at 295 Third St. for PRB | Boulangerie, a 2,502-square-foot coffee shop and bakery open 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 72 seats. (The board must approve of a “quick service food establishment” in this zoning.) After closing, the outdoor seats will serve Le Garrec’s Batifol restaurant, a Parisian brasserie just across the small brick plaza. He’s also installing a French market in Somerville’s former Bergamot restaurant. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.


City-line voter challenge

Election Commission, 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. It’s the threequel to the Feb. 15 case of whether Sam Seidel, who lives on Harris Street in a home on the city line, should be considered a resident of Cambridge or Somerville – a decision that could affect people in similar situations and was thus delayed March 1. The commission meets at 51 Inman St., Mid-Cambridge. (Update on March 29, 2023: A hearing on the Seidel case has been postponed for a second time, this time for a family matter.)

Spending for lower-income

Federal annual action plan public hearing, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Public comment is wanted on affordable housing, economic development, public service and other community development needs to be funded by federal money. The programs must benefit low- and moderate-income residents of Cambridge and county residents with AIDS. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.


More plans in Porter Square

Historical Commission, 6 p.m. Thursday. A plan is back to demolish the 1872-built home at 22 White St., Porter Square – home of Mind’s Eye Yarns. It would make way for a four-story and four-home condominium building – just part of a comprehensive remaking of White Street bordering the Porter Square Shopping Center and crossing into Somerville.

Infrastructure for The Port

Port infrastructure improvement project open house, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. What would you keep or change in Clement Morgan Park and the Paolillo Tot Lot? Future shared-street designs are also available to consider as part of the Port Infrastructure Project, which aims to reduce flooding by replacing old pipes and putting in underground storage tanks.
