Coroner called to deadly crash scene on Pa. highway: reports

A deadly crash scene in Cambria County Wednesday evening required the assistance of Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees, who confirmed one fatality, according to a report from WJAC and WTAJ.

The incident occurred in Adams Township where Lees was called to the crash scene on Rt. 869 on Locust Street near the Rt. 219 interchange. Several local fire departments and medical personnel reported to the scene as well. One person was killed in the single-car crash. After assessing the scene, Lees told WJAC, “For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a pole and then struck a tree. The driver of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office.”

Lees also mentioned that the victim’s identity is being withheld for the time being and an autopsy will be performed today to determine a cause of death, according to the news outlet.

Other details are still limited at this time regarding the fatal crash except that it may have resulted in an entrapment, according to WTAJ.

As a result, Rt. 869 was shut down so crews could reconstruct the scene.
