Clive, Iowa — A Sheldon man has won a $100,000 lottery prize. Lyle Vanden Berg of Sheldon has won the fourth top prize in the Iowa Lottery’s “Ruby Mine” scratch game. He purchased his winning ticket at Casey’s in Hinton, and claimed his prize Tuesday at the lottery’s Storm Lake regional office.

Hospers, Iowa — Several baby pigs died and a livestock trailer was was damaged in a fire on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, near Hospers. According to Hospers Fire Chief Jason Overmole, at about 7:50 a.m., the Hospers Fire Department was called to the report of a truck fire with baby pigs on the trailer on Highway 60 near Hospers Drive South, just southwest of Hospers.
One Man From Hartley, One From Sheldon Taken To Hospital After Accident
Sheldon, Iowa– A Hartley man and a Sheldon man were both taken to the hospital after an accident in Sheldon on Monday, November 27, 2023. The Sheldon Police Department reports that at about 2:50 p.m., 79-year-old Roger Rosenboom of Hartley was driving a 2021 Chevy pickup northbound on Crossroads Drive in Sheldon, near Ziegler Cat and Bomgaars. They tell us that 86-year-old James De Jong of Sheldon was eastbound on Highway 18 in a 2005 Dodge pickup.
