Delta Time: A Family’s Love for Music and Each Other

Calhoun County, AL – Delta Time isn’t just another local band from Calhoun County—it’s a family, bound together by shared memories, deep roots, and a mutual love of music. Made up of father Brandon Ballard, son Hunter Ballard, and daughter Haylie Ballard, this trio brings more than just tunes to the stage. The band wanted to stress that they may be a trio on stage, but wife and mom Tammy handles all their PR and is an integral part of their success! They bring their history, their heart, and their unbreakable bond as a family.

Their musical style, heavily influenced by the 90s grunge and rock that Brandon grew up listening to, has shaped their sound and their connection. As Hunter and Haylie grew up surrounded by their dad’s favorite music, it became theirs as well. The family’s musical journey started in church and through show choirs, with Haylie leading the way in vocals while Hunter and Brandon trade off between bass and lead guitar. Their performances reflect not only their musical talent but their love for spending time together—an experience that’s brought them even closer.

The name “Delta Time” holds deep personal significance. The Ballard family has lived on their land in Delta, Alabama for generations, land bought by their grandparents after saving money earned during World War II. That land, and the legacy tied to it, is a cornerstone of the family’s identity. For Hunter, who is studying to become a doctor, the term “Delta Time” has an added layer of meaning, symbolizing the inevitable changes in life—yet through it all, family remains the same. Their logo, featuring Cheaha Mountain, is a nod to their home, resting on the backside of the iconic mountain.

Although Haylie couldn’t be present for the interview, both Brandon and Hunter took a moment to brag on her. “She’s the star of the show,” they shared, describing her as hard-working and deeply loved by both family and fans. “People always try to steal her away for other bands,” they joked, but it’s clear that for Haylie, Delta Time is where her heart lies.

Active in the local music scene, Delta Time makes a point of supporting other artists, performing at open mic events whenever they can. Their upcoming shows include Sinclair Social on September 14, and Hubbard’s Off Main on September 21, with more performances scheduled in the fall on Saturday, October 26 at Old Crow Farm (Time TBD) and on Saturday, November 2 at  Heritage Day in Lineville, AL (Time TBD).
