Jacksonville, AL – Jacksonville City Schools recently received a generous donation of $25,000 from State Senator Keith Kelley and State House Representative Chad Robertson. The contribution, aimed at supporting educational initiatives, will be allocated between Jacksonville High School and Kitty Stone Elementary School. The entire Golden Eagle community expressed their deep appreciation for this significant support.

School board member Marita Watson shared her enthusiasm, saying, “We are thrilled that Senator Kelley and Representative Robertson donated $25,000 to Jacksonville City Schools to be used for educational purposes. The administration will determine how the funds will be utilized.”

In an interview with the Calhoun Journal, Representative Chad Robertson highlighted the importance of supporting local education. He noted that while financial contributions alone cannot resolve all challenges, they play a crucial role in funding programs and initiatives that benefit students. Robertson expressed pride in the local school systems and affirmed his commitment to continue providing assistance. He also mentioned that additional funds would be allocated to other school systems before Christmas, and the distribution process is ongoing. He pointed out that the funds come from the Educational Trust Fund, which varies each year.

Jacksonville Superintendent Dr. Michael Barber also expressed gratitude for the donation, emphasizing its impact on the school district. “We are incredibly grateful for the $25,000 donation from Representative Chad Robertson and Senator Keith Kelley. The funds will be used to address various needs, including material supplies and supporting class growth at both the high school and Kitty Stone Elementary. The flexibility given to local administrators to allocate these funds where they are most needed is greatly appreciated,” Dr. Barber stated.

Dr. Barber also emphasized the deep commitment and passion of the local leaders for public education, which goes beyond financial contributions to a genuine investment in the community and students. He praised the recent interaction between students and local officials, including Senator Kelley and Representative Robertson, as meaningful and impactful and praised both politicians for their dedication to education and personal connection to the community. He noted that the donation felt like an investment in the future of education. Additionally, he mentioned that the students were excited to meet the representatives, and their involvement, including social media posts, added a positive dimension to the school experience.

At the time of the article’s release, Senator Kelley was unavailable for an interview. The Jacksonville City Schools community looks forward to the positive impact of these funds and continues to value the support from their local legislators.
