DRIVER AND A PASSENGER. WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS OUT OF ABBEVILLE COUNTY. THE CORONER HAS RELEASED THE NAME OF A WOMAN KILLED IN A CRASH. HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS IT HAPPENED AROUND 1230 THIS AFTERNOON ON HIGHWAY 81 NORTH OF CALHOUN FALLS. THE CORONER IDENTIFIED THE VICTIM IS 23 YEAR OLD RILEY SHAW. TROOPERS SAY SHAW’S SUV WENT OFF THE ROAD, OVERTURNED AND HIT SOME TREES. THE CORONER SAYS SHE WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT. The coroner in Abbeville County, South Carolina says speeding and a woman being on her cellphone and not wearing a seat belt contributed to a deadly crash. Troopers say the crash happened at about 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon on South Carolina Highway 81, about 3.5 miles north of Calhoun Falls. They say an SUV was traveling north on SC-81 when it went off the right side of the road, overcorrected and then crossed the center of the road. Troopers say the SUV then went back off the right side of the road and overturned, hitting some trees. The driver of the SUV died, according to troopers. The coroner identified the victim as Ryleigh Shaw, 23, of Calhoun Falls. "Preliminary investigation indicates this was an avoidable accident," Dr. Mark Dorn, the coroner, said. Dorn said Shaw was on her cellphone at the time, and speeding was a factor in the crash. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to Dorn. Shaw died at the scene.
