The Caledonia Area girls basketball squad cruised to victory over the La Crescent-Hokah Lancers by a score of 65-32 in the first round of Sectional basketball. Aubrie Klug (No. 3) led the way with 26 points on the night.

The tip off went to the Warriors, as Regan King flipped the ball back to her teammates, and Aubrie Klug started off the night immediately with two points.

Caledonia started the game with a full court press, which was particularly effective for the first part of the half.

The Warriors had issues of their own and could not get a basket to fall for nearly the first few minutes of the half, but things began to pick up at 12:00, and with a big three from Josie Foster (No. 4) at 8:40, the Lady Warriors began to put the pedal to the floor.

The Lancers were in foul trouble early, giving the Warriors more free throws at the 8 minute mark. This was big in giving the Warriors the lead in the first half as the Warriors were 19 for 24 from the free throw line. The Warriors would pull ahead 26-8 at six minutes left in the half, and rounded out the first half with a score of 42-14.

The second half saw much of the same, with Josie Foster starting the half off with a quick 2, and from there, the Lady Warriors would not fall under a 25 point lead for the rest of the game.

Top scorers for the matchup were Aubrie Klug with 26 points, Josie Foster with 17 points, and Regan King (No. 13) with 11 points.

The Lady Warriors will next face off against Lake City at the Mayo Civic Center Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m.
