The Caledonia girls basketball Warriors won two of three in their last scheduled games of the season, winning big against Rushford Peterson 65-40, losing on the road to the Goodhue Wildcats 74-49, and finally winning against the Cannon Falls Bombers in Cannon Falls 76-31.

Against Rushford-Peterson, the Trojans won the tip, but, after a defensive stop, Regan King (No. 13) made the initial score followed by Aubrie Klug (No. 3) and Jodie Foster (No. 4) 3-pointers to set the tone for the game. Caledonia went up double digits by 10:30 in the first half at a score of 23-10. The full court press by Caledonia was especially effective in the first half, and the squad kept that strategy in the second half as well. By the end of the first half, the score was 43-24.

The second half saw much of the same, with Nicole Banse (No. 15) starting the scoring with a drive to the hoop, making the basket and drawing a foul for three points. Josie Foster was locked in from the 3-point line and cracked the defense with drives to the basket.

The action was interrupted by a technical foul on Rushford Peterson at the 12:35, and play continued with the Warriors up 49-28 at the 12-minute mark. Regan King also had an impressive pair of 3-point plays around the 10:30 mark, as the Warriors would roll to a dominant win of 65-40. Top scorers include Josie Foster with 26 points including four 3-pointers, Regan King with 11 points, and Nicole Banse with 10.

The Lady Warriors would run into a roadblock with the Goodhue Wildcats, with the score at the half at 50-27 and then a final score of 74-49 in the Wildcats' favor. Top scorers for this game were Aubrie Klug with 13 points, Josie Foster with 10 points and Nicole Banse with eight points.

In the last game of the season, the girls squad ran past Cannon Falls by a score of 76-31.

The ladies landed the No. 3 seed in the section tournament. They will play La Crescent at home Thursday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. The winner plays the winner between No. 6 Lake City and No. 11 Pine Island.

The No. 1 team in the section is Cotter Schools/Hope Lutheran; Caledonia could only play them in the finals. The No. 2 seed is Rochester Lourdes; Caledonia would play them in the semifinals, barring an upset of either team in the first two rounds.
