A Vermont State Police trooper was injured while responding to a disturbance on VT RT 14 in Calais on Monday night.
State police say they got a report at 11:31 p.m. about a man screaming and hearing a gunshot.
When police arrived at the home, they say that Michael King of Cailias was uncooperative and tried to stop the trooper from investigating the report.
They attempted to arrest King, and police say that King kicked a VSP cruiser door, injuring the hand of Trooper Skylar Velasquez.
Investigators found a firearm in King's possession. Police also say there was a child found to be endangered in the home.
Police eventually arrested King.
King is facing multiple charges including assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, impeding, felon in possession of a firearm, and cruelty to a child.
King was cited and released from custody. King is scheduled to answer to the charges in July at Washington County Superior Court.
