On Sunday, September 24, St. Louis encountered an eventful day under mostly cloudy skies, with incidents ranging from violent to tragic. A late-night shooting occurred past 11 PM on Saturday on King’s Highway, leaving one man dead from gunshot wounds. The police have yet to identify any suspects or motives.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - Multiple people were injured, including a man who was ejected from his seat, in a multi-vehicle crash overnight on Interstate 55. According to police, the accident happened around 1:30 a.m. on I-55 at the I-44 interchange. Three vehicles in total were involved. The driver of a Ford Fusion, carrying two other passengers, was speeding south on I-55 and attempted to pass a Nissan Maxima. In doing so, the driver of the Ford lost control and drove off the right side of the road. The Ford went airborne and struck the stone wall of the west shoulder. It then reentered the roadway, striking the Nissan and a Chevrolet Impala.

Two incidents in Collinsville, Illinois have been bookmarked for a weekly safety report. The first incident involves a former Illinois State Trooper who pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in a 2007 crash that killed two teenage sisters. He has requested a delay in the hearing to restore his driving privileges. The second incident involves a Collinsville man with prior DUI convictions who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for causing a fatal crash while under the influence of marijuana.

Two suspects, a stolen car, and now a string of investigations. It all comes after a long-standing police pursuit ended Friday morning near Dupo, Illinois.

The Missouri correctional officers assigned to guard a convicted child sex predator, who escaped custody by walking out of a hospital, are no longer employed by the department.

A driver allegedly running a red light at high speed at the intersection of Broadway and Humboldt caused the accident. The driver's car, a reported Nissan, was implicated in the incident that led to a series of collisions. This occurrence reinforces the need for traffic law reform, particularly the reinstatement of speed and red light cameras, discontinued in 2015 due to constitutional issues. Notably, the St. Louis Board of Aldermen had scheduled a discussion about this issue only hours after the accident.

Tommy Boyd, a two-time sex offender, managed to evade authorities before being recaptured. His escape Thursday triggered an extensive manhunt, leaving local residents on edge.
