The North Allegheny (NA) Bowling teams began the Winter Sports Season on Wednesday with a section match against the Moon Area Tigers at Perry Park Lanes. The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Bowling League (WPIBL) was restructured in the offseason, placing NA in a new section with different opponents. Moon, who finished second in the WPIBL West last year, aimed to defeat NA in their first match of the season.

North Allegheny Girls’ Bowling Team Overcomes Early Loss to Win Against North Hills Indians
The North Allegheny (NA) Girls' bowling team won against the North Hills Indians at Pines Plaza in Ross Township. The two teams competed again due to a restructuring that put the Tigers back in the WPIBL West. The Tigers lost the first game 483-511, despite good performances from Abigail Peigh and Senior Julia Jordan. However, the Tigers won the second game, scoring 571-478, with Peigh and Jordan achieving personal bests. Junior Sarah Gill also scored 118.
SENTENCING HEARINGS FOR DRUG OVERDOSE DEATH, STABBING TO BE HELD TODAY
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for a woman who entered guilty pleas to charges connected with a drug overdose death in October of 2022. Heidi Jo Millar of Indiana pleaded guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, while a charge of drug delivery resulting in death was not prosecuted. Police said that Millar sold the drugs that resulted in the victim’s death.

The North Allegheny Tigers will play against the Harrisburg Cougars in the PIAA Class 6A semifinals at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona, PA. Both teams started slowly, but the Tigers scored the first goal, thanks to senior Jacob Rice and Tristan Soose's assist. Another goal from senior Logan Cerqua, assisted by Aidan Anthony, ended the first period with the Tigers leading 2-0.
North Allegheny Tigers Secure Place in PIAA Championship with 24-12 Victory Over Harrisburg
The North Allegheny Tigers won a place in the PIAA championship game for the first time since 2012, after a 24-12 win over Harrisburg in the PIAA Class 6A semifinals. The game was held at Mansion Park Stadium. The Tigers used a strong rushing strategy and solid defense to beat the three-time reigning District 3 champions and last season's PIAA runners-up. The Tigers' special teams unit also contributed to the win, setting up the first touchdown.
