Man dies in Monroe motorcycle accident
FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Monroe county sheriff’s office responded to a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday morning at 10:30. They say the accident took place on highway 42 north just south of Johnstonville Road. The victim was identified as 41-year-old Christopher Taylor of Butts county.

Two-county police chase ends in Jackson, suspect arrested
JACKSON, Ga. (WGXA) -- The Jackson Police Department reported a police chase that started in Monroe County, and led into Butts County where it ended in the city of Jackson. The chase occurred at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, and it is reported that the vehicle the suspect was driving contained stolen merchandise.

Jenkinsburg firefighters help make fire truck-themed story time a success
More than 20 children and a host of parents gathered at the Jackson-Butts County Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 12 for Touch-a-Truck, a fire truck themed story time. Designed for toddlers and preschoolers, the event included stories and crafts led in part by firefighters from Butts County Fire Department Station 8 in Jenkinsburg. The firefighters educated the children on fire safety and sang fire-themed songs.
Local NAACP suggests performing arts center be named in Mamie Crawford’s honor
Representatives of the Jackson-Butts County NAACP addressed the Butts County School Board on Tuesday, Sept. 12 to recommend the new performing arts center be named in honor of local educator Mamie Crawford. The $14.9 million performing arts center is under construction and is expected to be completed by November.
