Pro Re Nata Brewery expanding into Augusta County with acquisition of Skipping Rock
STAUNTON — John Schoeb and Pro Re Nata Brewery continue to create a footprint in the Staunton area. Last fall, Schoeb got Staunton City Council's approval to rezone the former Coca-Cola Bottling Works facility on North Augusta Street with plans to start a microbrewery and tasting room in the building. Schoeb owns Pro Re Nata, a brewery and music venue, in Crozet.
CAVA facility in Verona begins producing Mediterranean-inspired foods
VERONA — The new CAVA facility in Verona was buzzing with activity Wednesday afternoon. Familiar Augusta County faces, local and state representatives, and some of CAVA’s business neighbors in Verona filled a reception area. CAVA produces Mediterranean-inspired foods, such as Crazy Feta, pita wraps, pita chips, hummus, tzatziki, and salads. The Boys Home Invitational Golf Tournament Was a Wonderful Success!
On Saturday, May 4, 2024, Boys Home of Virginia hosted its first Invitational Golf Tournament on The Cascades Course at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia. Check-in began at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. Despite the inclement weather, 16 teams enjoyed an exciting round of golf on a beautiful course with a delicious lunch, as well as an exceptional opportunity to support Boys Home.

Augusta Solar facility at the planning commission, Staunton planning considers ordinance: THE AGENDA
VERONA – The Augusta County Planning Commission will take up a request to "construct and operate a large solar energy system" spread over five sites. The fenced-in acreage of the project, the way solar energy systems are categorized in Augusta County, is approximately 470 acres. About 114 acres would be directly under panels. Including all other land uses, the total project acreage is 1,693, located in Urban Service Area or Community Development Area of the comprehensive plan.
Augusta County tax deadline extended
VERONA – The Augusta County Board of Supervisors extended this year’s tax deadline from June 5 to June 21. The change comes due to the reassessment process. According to Deputy County Administrator Jennifer Whetzel, a delay in procurement led the tax bills being mailed later than usual. The mailing delay pushed the staff to request the deadline delay from the supervisors.
Two charged following shooting incident in Augusta County
AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) - Authorities arrested a man allegedly involved in a shooting incident in Stuarts Draft Thursday afternoon. The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 800 block of Wilda Road just after 12:30 for a report of shots fired. The woman who called said 35-year-old Raymond Gregory Allen has shot at her through the front door from inside a home there.
