BOB LEWINSKI FACES 20 YEARS IN PRISON IF CONVICTED. 12 NEWS CAROLINE REINWALD REPORTS FROM THE TOWN OF BURLINGTON, WHERE RESIDENTS WATCHED AS DEPUTIES ARRESTED SLIM AND SKI AT HIS HOME. DRIVING HOME WEDNESDAY, MATTHEW ALLEN SAW DEPUTIES SURROUNDING THIS HOME, TAKING IN THE MAN THEY SAY STRUCK A UTILITY WORKER AND FLED. I KIND OF FELT BAD PULLING OVER AND TAKING THE PICTURES AND THE VIDEO AND STUFF, BUT I HAD A FEELING AS TO WHAT THEY WERE DOING. THE RACINE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS TUESDAY AFTERNOON BOB’S WOMAN SKI STRUCK. CARLY REBAR CHECKED WITH ITS TRUCK NEAR HONEY LAKE AND SPRING PRAIRIE ROADS IN THE TOWN OF BURLINGTON. THE 28 YEAR OLD WE ENERGIES CONTRACTOR WAS HOLDING UP A STOP SIGN, SLOWING TRAFFIC WHEN WITNESSES SAY SLIM AND SKI HIT HER AND TOOK OFF, CAUSING MULTIPLE INJURIES, INCLUDING BROKEN LEGS. SHE HAS A BIG GASH, DROPPED HER FACE. I HAVE HAD TO BE SEWED UP AND EVERYTHING. THE TRAUMA THAT SHE’S GONE THROUGH, THE PAIN THAT SHE’S GONE THROUGH, THAT’S GOING TO CHANGE EVERYTHING FOR HER. AFTER A 24 HOUR MANHUNT, INVESTIGATORS SAY A TIP LED DEPUTIES TO SLIM IN SKIS HOME ABOUT SIX MILES AWAY. HIS TRUCK HIDING UNDER A TARP. OUTSIDE INVESTIGATOR SAY AFTER ADMITTING TO THE HIT AND RUNS LEMMON SKI EXPLAINED HE WAS ON HIS WAY TO AN ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG ABUSE MEETING AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. HIS EXPLANATION IS THAT HE’S DRIVING. HE SNEEZED, DROPPED HIS PHONE ACCORDINGLY. IT WAS TRYING TO FIND HIS PHONE IN HIS VEHICLE AS HE WAS DRIVING. AND THE TIME YOU LOOKED UP THIS WORK, IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS VEHICLE AND HE HIT HER. ONLINE COURT RECORDS SHOW THE 41 YEAR OLD HAS TWO OLD WIVES AND A PREVIOUS HIT AND RUN CONVICTION ON HIS RECORD. AFTER STRIKING THE WE ENERGIES CONTRACTOR. THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT SAYS SLIM ESCAPE PANICKED AND TOOK OFF. TELLING INVESTIGATORS HE LET BECAUSE HE DOES NOT LIKE TO SEE PEOPLE IN PAIN. HE’S NOW CHARGED WITH HIT AND RUN AND RECKLESS DRIVING FELONIES. AND ALL THE COMMUNITY PEOPLE THAT WERE CALLING WITH TIPS. I UNDERSTAND A LOT OF FOLKS CALLING SAID, I THINK I KNOW WHAT IT IS OR I THINK I’VE SEEN IT. THAT WAS TREMENDOUS. AN APOLOGY STOPPING, RENDERING AID, ALL THAT STUFF. A man accused of striking a utility worker on Tuesday has been charged with two felonies. Bob Slominski, 41, is in the Racine County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Deputies located Slominski at his home on Wednesday after receiving a tip, following a 24-hour manhunt.Video from a viewer shows the deputies surrounding Slominski's home on Wednesday, prior to arresting him. "All those people who called in tips, that was tremendous," Allan said. "(He could have given) an apology, stopping, rendering aid, all of that stuff, but running? Making it so much harder on yourself. Whatever he gets, he deserves."According to a criminal complaint, Slominski struck a We Energies contractor on Tuesday near South Honey Lake Road and Spring Prairie Road in the town of Burlington.The complaint said Slominski took off after striking the worker, who is identified as Karlee Rybarczyk, 28. Her family said Rybarczyk suffered two broken legs, a broken arm, broken rib and multiple cuts and bruises.The complaint said Slominski told investigators he was en route to an alcohol and other drug abuse meeting at the time of the crash. He said he "panicked" and left the scene, according to a Racine County Sheriff's Office news release.The complaint said he sneezed while driving and dropped his phone. Slominski said he was trying to find his phone prior to striking the victim. Slominski is due back in court for a preliminary hearing next week. Deputies located Slominski at his home on Wednesday after receiving a tip, following a 24-hour manhunt.
