WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A local church is recovering after being “completely torn to pieces,” according to the pastor of Blount Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Louis Williams says a technician caught the vandals in action. Williams says they ran toward the woods Friday when the technician called the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

BURKE COUNTY, Ga (WFXG) - The Burke County Sheriff's Office is set to host its Sheriff's Academy for Youth Summer Camp. It's for children 8 to 12 years old. The Sheriff's Office says the camp aims to provide children with a unique opportunity to learn about law enforcement while participating in various outdoor activities, field trips, and local events. It will also feature various activities that foster teamwork, leadership skills, and personal growth. The Sheriff's Office says to ensure that each child has a memorable experience, the Sheriff's Office says the summer camp is limited to a maximum of 20 participants per week. The registration process requires a $50 pre-registration fee each week, which covers the cost of food and a camp t-shirt for the child. Your child can attend the camp from Jun 19 through Jun 23 or from Jun 26 to Jun 30. For more information regarding registration, contact Sgt.
