Columbia City Beatwalk Celebrates 30 Years of Live Music, Fun, and Dancing
Last weekend’s warm weather and surprising visit from the northern lights bodes well for the Seattle summer to come. As does the arrival of Columbia City Beatwalk, which will officially kick off in June as it celebrates 30 years of existence in the South Seattle neighborhood. Every second Sunday of the month from June through September, local musicians, bands, DJs, and artists will set up shop for the evening in the Columbia City streets and businesses, bringing music and family-friendly fun to the neighborhood. And for its milestone anniversary year, organizers still revel in the magic of each Beatwalk.

'Caged in like animals': King County sets up fencing around homeless encampment in Burien
BURIEN, Wash. - King County has set up fencing around dozens of tents at 6th Avenue SW and SW 149th Street in Burien. The encampment is adjacent to the Burien Courthouse parking lot. Campers say they were ordered to move from parts of the lot on Wednesday before fencing went up Thursday morning.
Seattle Family Narrowly Escapes Central District Apartment Fire, Two Firefighters Injured
A mother and her three children were within an inch of tragedy on Wednesday when they escaped a raging apartment fire in Seattle's Central District, gripping onto life and luck as they sought refuge in a nearby fire station. The blaze, which ripped through their apartment building at around 5:42 p.m., was spotted by eagle-eyed firefighters from Station 6 who sprang into action to douse the flames originating from the 2600 block of S. Jackson St., as reported by Fireline Seattle.
