BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was sentenced Tuesday morning to 40 years in prison for multiple stabbings in 2021, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials said on Aug. 26, Davante Thompson, 27, stabbed a family member more than a dozen times in their shared home on Humboldt Parkway. The victim fled to a bedroom before Thompson stabbed another family member once in the neck and once in the body. A third family member was able to stop the attack and Thompson was arrested.

The victims were taken by ambulance to ECMC to be treated. One of them experienced nerve damage and a loss of range of motion as a result of the attack, according to officials.

In February 2024, Thompson was found guilty of second-degree attempted murder, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and first-degree attempted assault.

In addition to his prison time, he was also sentenced to ten years of post-release supervision. Orders of protection remain in effect for the victims until 2068.
