STAR fades to black as WTSS signs off

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It was an emotional end of an era Friday as WTSS STAR 102.5 signed off as part of a station sale by owner, Audacy Radio, to a religious broadcasting company, EMF.

Morning personality Rob Lucas was on air for the final segment leading up to 10 a.m., surrounded by the entire staff of STAR and Audacy in the background.

LISTEN LIVE TO WBEN:

"So how do we end this," said Lucas as he closed out the final segment on air by quoting Buffalo-born Goo Goo Dolls John Rzeznik and Robby Takac. "And sooner or later it's over, and I just don't want to miss you tonight. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am."

Lucas detailed the numerous brands of 102.5 FM through its 48 years of serving the Buffalo community as WBEN-FM, ROCK 102, MAJIC-102, Q-102 and finally, STAR 102.5.

"Thank you Buffalo," exclaimed the staff as the Goo Goo Dolls song played as the final piece of music on WTSS Buffalo.
