KeyBank Center (originally First Niagara Center) is home to the Buffalo Sabres NHL team and Buffalo Bandits NLL team at 1 Seymour H Knox III Plaza, Buffalo, New York 14203. The KeyBank Center bag policy only allows small clutch bags that don’t exceed 4” x 6” x 1.5” to enter the venue with fans. The stadium security staff also allows medical and diaper bags to enter the venue for a Sabres game. Otherwise, all traditional backpacks and similar bags can’t enter the arena with fans.

Approved Bags

Below are the types of bags that can come into KeyBank Center for a Sabres/Bandits game.

 

  • A small clutch/purse that does not exceed 4” x 6” x 1.5”
  • Any ADA-specific bag
  • Medical bags/diaper bags
  • A clear plastic ziplock bag. If you need to bring medical/baby food into the venue, you can put it in a clear plastic bag to help the security team review it at the gate.

Fans arriving at KeyBank Center for a game or concert will pass through a metal detector screening at the gate before scanning their ticket to enter the arena. Fans who have a bag with them will have that go through a bag inspection check at the entry gates. KeyBank Center has a strict bag policy, so the security staff will only allow small clutch and medical/diaper bags inside the arena. Anything else won’t be allowed inside the stadium.

Fans attending a hockey game or another event at KeyBank Center should know that certain items can’t come into the arena with fans. Some of those items that can’t go into the venue are below.   • Bags larger than 4” x 6” x 1.5”. However, the exception to this rule is if you need to bring medical bags/diaper bags into the venue. Otherwise, backpacks, coolers, large purses, laptop bags, camera bags, and luggage can’t come into the venue with fans.
  • Animals not for ADA purposes
  • Aerosol cans
  • Drones
  • Outside food and drinks. However, the exception to this rule is if you need to bring in baby food or something similar. If so, put that into a clear plastic bag for a visual inspection at the gate. For example, diabetes supplies, baby food, or something similar can enter the venue if you put them into a clear plastic bag.
  • Frisbees
  • Laser pointers
  • Selfie sticks
  • Weapons of any kind

 

Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area at KeyBank Center?

There is no official bag check or locker storage area at KeyBank Center for fans to leave their bags if they can’t enter the venue. However, since the venue is in downtown Buffalo, there are bars and hotels within walking distance you can visit to see if they can hold onto your stuff. You can expect to pay around $10 per bag for a hotel or bar to watch your stuff while at the game. However, bars and hotels operate on a first-come and first-served basis, so plan to get here two hours before your event to get a spot for your bag.

 

If you have your car in the KeyBank Center parking lots, you can always bring your bag back and leave it inside before heading back to the arena. Since the bag policy is strict at the Buffalo Sabres venue, you should plan to leave any bags you have with you in your car before walking to the venue.
