By Evan Di Pasquale,
Denver, Colo. (WGR 550) - Just like in last year's NLL Finals, the Colorado Mammoth take Game 2 to even the best-of-three series with the Buffalo Bandits, at Ball arena in Denver.
It took four minutes before the first goal was scored by either team as Ian MacKay started the scoring for the Bandits in the first quarter. Kyle Buchanan and Dhane Smith gave the Bandits a 3-1 lead in the first quarter. The lead didn't last long as the Mammoth score two goals and tied the game at three at the end of the first quarter.
Colorado sprinted forward in the second, outscoring the Bandits 5-2 with two of their goals coming on the power play.
The bleeding didn't stop as the Mammoth scoring three power play goals in the second to take a 13-7 lead. The Bandits would cut the lead to five but it wasn't enough as Colorado tacked on three more to send the series back to Buffalo.
Dhane Smith led all players in scoring with two goals and six assists. Tehoka Nanticoke added four goals for the Bandits. Matt Vinc made 42 saves and was eventually pulled late in the fourth.
Ryan Lee lead the way for the Mammoth scoring four goals and adding three assists. Dillon Ward Stood on his head making 38 saves shutting down the Bandits multiple times in Game 2.
The Bandits had trouble staying out of the box as Buffalo committed 15 penalties. Allowing the Mammoth to score on five power plays plus a penalty shot at the end of the game.
Game 3 will be back in Buffalo on Saturday June 3, at 7:30 p.m. EST at KeyBank Center.
