Arrest made after woman is struck by a vehicle and killed on Main Street

The woman, identified as Clara Gomez, 58, was declared dead at the scene. Many know her as 'Buffalo Claire'

BUFFALO, N.Y. — An arrest has been made in connection to a woman's death following a crash on Main and West Utica streets Tuesday night.

Marlon D. Servance, Jr., 22, of Buffalo was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Buffalo City Court. He faces one count of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment; both are felonies.

Buffalo Police responded to a call around 9:45 p.m. and investigators found a 58-year-old woman had been hit by a vehicle.

The woman, identified as Clara Gomez, was declared dead at the scene.

Gomez was known by many as simply Claire, or Buffalo Claire. Her face was on the cover of a Griselda album cover a few years ago.

On Twitter, Westside Gunn paid tribute to the woman who was known to have mental health and drug addiction problems.

Buffalo Police report that the vehicle involved in the accident has been impounded.

The events that led to Gomez's death began around 9:43 p.m. when the Erie County District Attorney's Office alleges that Servance "fired multiple shots from an illegal handgun at the victim, which created a grave risk of death to another person."

The shooting happened while Servance was in one car and someone else was in another, on both Jefferson Avenue and Best Street. The district attorney's office says the chase eventually reached Main Street, where Gomez was struck by a vehicle near West Utica Street.

Servance is scheduled to have a felony hearing at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Buffalo City Court. He is being held without bail.

Servance faces up to 15 years in prison, if convicted on the highest charge.

"At this time, the alleged shooting and the fatal crash remain under investigation and additional charges may be filed," the district attorney's office said Wednesday in a statement.
