Jefferson County's emergency operations center lost power during April Xcel shutoffs
DENVER — Despite the wind on Monday, Xcel Energy did not do a public safety power shutoff (PSPS). That is the last resort method that Xcel took on April 6, when it purposefully shutoff power to more than 50,000 customers in six counties, in part, to avoid its equipment from starting a wildfire in high winds.
Disabled veteran pulled over while riding motorized wheelchair in Littleton
While riding his motorized wheelchair on the road, a disabled veteran was pulled over and issued a ticket by a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputy. The veteran asserted that he was not in violation of any laws and said ticketing him seemed to infringe upon his rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Read more here.
