Gatlinburg Spur to have temporary single-lane closures. Here's when to expect delays
The section of U.S. Highway 441 known as the Spur will have single-lane closures beginning April 24, while crews complete roadside maintenance. The single-lane closures along the Spur through Great Smoky Mountains National Park will be in effect April 24-25, and then April 29-May 2, according to the National Park Service.
SBI finds Waynesville officer-involved shooting during stand-off justified
WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has concluded an officer-involved shooting in a Waynesville stand-off last fall was justified. In September, Darren Tate barricaded inside a home in the Ninevah neighborhood after a shoot-out with officers. The stand-off went on for 3.5 hours.
Gatlinburg's Renovation of Historic Trout Facility Hooks Expectations for October Completion
Gatlinburg's prime fishing spot, the Little Pigeon River, will be taking a temporary hit to one of its fish populations, critics be dammed. Gatlinburg is renovating its state-owned trout production palace and locals and tourists alike will have to wait until projects wrap up this October to get their lines wet with the city's trout offerings. Starting this past week, the Gatlinburg Trout Facility began its renovations, putting a stop to the weekly stocking of fish it's known for since the good ol' times of 1981, several local reports state.
