One of the most notable incidents that occurred at Federal Prison Camp Bryan involved three inmates who went missing in 2017.
The inmates — Edith Lara, Ysenia Frausto, and Brenda Rosas — were discovered missing on May 27, 2017, authorities told KBTX-TV at the time. While Frausto and Rosas were later apprehended, Lara still hasn't been found, per CBS News, which cited the US Bureau of Prisons.
The three inmates were originally convicted of drug-related charges but Frausto and Rosas were later charged with the escape, as well as aiding and abetting each other, per CBS News.
The US Bureau of Prisons did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, made outside normal working hours.
Holmes reported to the same prison on Tuesday to begin an 11-year sentence. She was found guilty in January 2022 of fraud and conspiracy charges relating to her collapsed healthtech startup.
The federal facility in Bryan houses inmates who are considered to be a low-security risk. Inmates working on a factory line earn a wage of at least $0.12 an hour.
When it comes to staying connected, Holmes will have access to only one gadget at a time, according to an inmate handbook for the facility.
