The DEFY swimmers and coaches assemble after competing in the Maine Winter Swimming Championships from March 16-19 at Bowdoin College.

BRUNSWICK — It was another strong outing for the Down East Family YMCA Dolphins as they continue their championship-season swim events.

After finishing third at the YMCA Swimming State Championships the week before the Dolphins snagged a fifth-place finish at the Maine Swimming Winter Championships. They were one of only five teams to break the 1,000-point mark, finishing with a final score of 1,849. That put the team just ahead of the Mid Maine Dolphins-Waterville (974) but just behind the Westbrook Seals (2,012.05). A team from the MDI YMCA finished in eighth place with a score of 663.
