Man dies after single-vehicle crash in Brunswick County

Troopers from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle fatality on Tuesday morning.

A man died Tuesday morning following a single-vehicle car crash on an area in Brunswick County where Interstate 140 and U.S. 17 merges.

Sgt. David S. Gould of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the driver struck a road sign around 8 a.m. before losing control and hitting a guardrail near I-140. The car flipped over several times and landed upside down on U.S. 17, with the roof on the ground. It stopped moving near the guardrail.

Troopers responded and investigated. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Additional information about him was not released as of Tuesday afternoon.
