Donald (Bo) Wayne Elrod, 86, of Comanche, Texas, ascended to his Heavenly home on Monday, May 29, 2023. Bo was born in Roscoe, Texas, on May 26, 1937, the only son of J.C. and Bessie Carey Elrod. After the family moved to Comanche, he grew up around the Board Church and Sweetwater Creek Communities in Comanche County, Texas. He graduated from Comanche High School in 1955 and was a three-time varsity letter winner in football for the Indians. He was a team member of the 1954 Indian football team that reached the Texas state semi-final game, with a record of 12-1.

She began a business providing security services to local businesses. Judy was finally happy with her profession.

Donald Frye Jordan, Jr., (Doc) passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born on July 29, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 90 years old. Don moved to Brownwood as a young boy and graduated from Brownwood High School. He attended Texas A&M and was a member of the Aggie Corps of Cadets and a member of the cross-country track team. After graduating from Texas A & M in 1954, he joined the Army and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany for two years. Following his service, he returned to Brownwood. Don met his future wife, Carol Conway, on a blind date and they were married shortly after.

After a call to order, invocation, and pledge of allegiance, the Early City Council quickly addressed Matters of New Business. On the first agenda item, The City of Early voted to approve TxDOT Brownwood District’s application to the 2023 Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TA) call for projects. This is a grant through Transportation Alternative that is for sidewalks, bike paths, and pathways. Early can request the Texas Department of Transportation to apply for the City of Early. They can have the Brownwood Texas Department of Transportation district apply for the grant that will add sidewalks to Early Boulevard between 183 North and 183 South. If awarded the grant, TxDOT would take care of all the engineering and construction. Early has transportation credits so they will not have to pay any money.
