Chase With Law Enforcement Ends With Man In Jail

At approximately 4:00 pm Tuesday, March 28, the Brown County Sheriff’s office received a request for assistance from the McCullough County Sheriffs office on a vehicle pursuit in bound to Brown County on Hwy 377 S.

The vehicle was being pursued by the McCullough County Sheriff, a Deputy and two DPS Troopers. Brown County Sheriff Vance Hill was the first county unit to assist. He successfully deployed spike strips south of CR 232 on Hwy 377. At least two other Brown County Deputies also successfully spiked the vehicles tires.

The suspect slowed to a speed of approximately 75 mph and continued into Brownwood. The vehicle eventual lost all the rubber on both front tires but continued to evade authorities. Just north of the Truman Harlow overpass the suspect vehicle was immobilized due to mechanical failure.

The driver, Hunter Wayne Tribbett was taken into custody without further incident.  Tribbett is jailed in McCulloch County where the chase originated. According to McCulloch County online jail records, he is charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle. No bond was set as of Wednesday morning.

Brownwood PD assisted with blocking the intersection for everyone’s safety.
