NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating the death of a man after he was punched in the head during a dispute inside his Brooklyn apartment over the weekend, authorities said Wednesday.

At approximately 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 28, police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious man inside of an apartment located at 135 Elmira Loop, in Starrett City.

Upon arrival, officers observed 58-year-old James Keitt, unconscious and unresponsive, with bruising to the face.

EMS responded to the location and pronounced Keitt dead at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that earlier, Keitt was involved in a dispute with another man, inside the apartment, where the victim was punched by the suspect, prior to his fleeing the scene.

Keitt went to sleep after the assault and died. His wife found him unresponsive on the couch the next morning, according to the Daily News.

The incident has now been deemed a Homicide by the NYPD.

There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
