NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was attacked on a Brooklyn subway train after asking two women to stop smoking on board, police said Thursday as they released images of the suspects.

The pair were smoking on a southbound A train in Bedford-Stuyvesant just before 10 p.m. Tuesday when the man came over and asked them to stop.

Instead, the women menaced him with a box cutter and struck him over the head with an unknown object, police said.

The duo fled at the Nostrand Avenue station, while the man refused medical attention at the scene for a laceration to his head.

In a similar assault on Monday, a 70-year-old man was pepper-sprayed in the eyes by a woman at a Chelsea apartment building after asking a group of people to stop smoking pot in the stairwell.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
