Gun-toting robbers raid Brooklyn Checkers after 1 pretends to be customer

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Three men robbed a Brooklyn Checkers at gunpoint, with two leaping over the counter before robbing the store of nearly $300 in cash, police said Friday.

The trio entered the Bushwick fast food joint at 1611 Broadway near Eldert Street around 12:05 a.m. on Feb. 28, with one of them posing as a customer.

Police said one of the thieves jumped over the counter, pulled out a firearm and told the worker to open the register and give him the money. A second suspect also jumped over the counter, grabbed another worker and demanded he look down and not to move.

The trio removed $288 in cash from the register and fled the location on foot, heading southbound on Broadway.

No physical injuries were incurred as a result of the incident.
