It’s been a big year for Brooklyn Center baseball.

The team entered last week amid one of the program’s best runs in recent history. After beating PACT and Patrick Henry on April 22 and 27, the Centaurs swept Washington Tech with two non-conference wins on April 29 and May 3, with respective scores of 15-5 and 13-1. This meant the team entered last week 4-4, already tying 2023’s number of wins and one short of 2022’s with six regular season games left to play.

Last week’s action started out with a thrilling 15-14 loss to Minneapolis North on May 7 at North Community Park. The Polars defeated the Centaurs with a double for two runs in a bottom of the seventh walk-off after both sides impressed at bat through the evening. Brooklyn Center registered 14 hits on the day.

The Centaurs picked up another win for the season on May 9, beating the Academy of Sciences and Agriculture 12-0 at home in a non-conference victory. Grant Tenhaeff hit two RBI and had one run, while Gabriel Morales scored three runs.

Igor Chernyak, Thomas Alcott, Anders Rydberg, Byron Hawkins, Dalorian Davis and Emmanuel Seward scored one run each.

The Centaurs’ final game last week pitted them against Edison at home on May 10. Brooklyn Center went on to lose 11-3. The result adjusted Brooklyn Center’s overall record this season to 5-6.

Brooklyn Center will play two games the following week, hosting Harding on Tuesday, May 14, before traveling to Cooper on Friday, May 17.
