BROOKHAVEN — Once known as the 84 Chevron, a sign still bore the name above the customer checkout, the gas station located at the intersection of US84 and Cowart Lane Southwest is in new hands and under a new name. Thursday was the first day of business of the new owners of the 76 on US84.

Computer systems were the biggest change inside but outside the gas station awning is being completely replaced with the blue and orange 76 theme. A temporary sign covers the Chevron Logo with gas prices by the road and gas pumps were being replaced Friday.

Bozeman Tire owner Neal Bozeman sold the gas station to Hood Petroleum. Business has not slowed down with the change. Friday afternoon a convoy of army vehicles stopped for gas and a bite to eat while customers continued to pour in. Hood Petroleum owns a 76 station in Hazlehurst and the Hood family owns Tobacco Mart in Brookhaven.
