You may see more coyotes in the borough this spring, as sightings of the wild animal are expected to rise for the warmer months.

Chris Nagy, co-founder of the Gotham Coyote Project, studies eastern coyotes as they expand through and to New York City.

"I put up these little digital cameras and you tie them to the tree and they have a motion sensor on them,” said Nagy. “If an animal walks by, it will hopefully take a picture of whatever critter goes by. And basically, any animal, a squirrel-sized or bigger, will trigger the camera."

Nagy says that in any given park there is usually a pair of coyotes. He says if you come across a coyote den – it’s important to admire and observe from a safe distance.

"It can be very cool. I hope people think of it as cool rather than frightening,” said Nagy. “These are really wonderfully adapted animals. They can survive here on their own just fine, and if they are in a spot where it's not there isn't enough food, they can leave."

My dumb ass. Looks like a random canine to me. Wouldn't know one if it literally bit me in the ass.
