New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge was named the American League Player of the Week , the league announced Monday.

After a slow start to the season, Judge has been on fire during the month of May. The Yankees captain has returned to form as one of the best hitters in MLB, and this past week proved it.

This is Judge's 10th career Player of the Week honor.

In six games last week, Judge hit .500 with a ridiculous 1.830 OPS that included five doubles, three home runs, five RBI and seven walks.

In 17 games during the month of May, Judge is hitting .386 with seven home runs, nine doubles, 14 RBI and 16 runs scored. He has a 1.433 OPS while his strikeout percentage dropped nearly seven percentage points from 27% to 20.3%.

The Yankees needed Judge to show some life, and he's done more than that. There's a good chance The Captain is on his way to earning the Player of the Month award if he keeps it up.
