Police say one person was killed in a car crash on the Bronx River Parkway early Friday morning.

According to the NYPD, the male driver of the speeding Jeep Grand Cherokee failed to navigate the roadway, struck a partition, then the car overturned on the side of the parkway. The female passenger was ejected from the car.

The 30-year-old woman was killed and the 34-year-old man is in critical condition.

All lanes of Bronx River Parkway have reopened approaching Boston Road.

The crash comes as the Department of Transportation is undergoing a massive construction project for the Bronx River Parkway. Lanes are shifting between Exit 9 at Gun Hill Road up to Exit 10 at Wakefield Avenue as the DOT replaces the bridge that carries the expressway over the Metro-North rail.

Two lanes will remain open on either side of the span. The DOT says this will be in effect through the end of March 2025.
