The Bronx is set to get its first legal recreational marijuana dispensary this fall.
Alfredo Angueira is the co-owner of Con Bud, which is setting up as a conditional adult use cannabis dispensary in the Bronx. It will be located on Bruckner Boulevard in Mott Haven, and Angueira says they plan to hire about 70 workers when they open, with a majority of them from the Bronx.
"We are very excited... we are looking at opening somewhere between 90 to 120 days," said Angueira.
Co-owner Coss Marte, who was formerly incarcerated for a marijuana offense, says it's always been his and his four business partners' mission to give back to the Bronx. He says the borough suffered from archaic marijuana charges that negatively impacted communities of color.
Unlike other dispensaries, this Bronx dispensary says it's working to build an on-site consumption area for customers.
Dispensaries have already opened in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan.
