It was not immediately clear if the baby died at the shelter or if she was left in the woods to die, a police source said.

A neighbor told ABC 7 News how 'shocked' she was. 'It gets me so sad, how they go through that.'

The spokesperson said the parents' names have not yet been released yet and the case is under investigation.

There have been no charges filed yet as police await the results of a city Medical Examiner autopsy that will determine the manner and cause of death, a police spokesperson said.
