NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a man in his 30s who was selling candy when he attacked an 18-year-old man on a train near Yankee Stadium on Sunday.

The candy seller asked the man to move out of the way, starting an argument on the northbound D train approaching the River Avenue and East 161st Street subway station around 3:55 p.m., according to authorities.

The aggrieved candy seller grabbed the man’s cell phone, apparently believing he was being recorded, and threw it before punching him repeatedly in the face, officials said.

The attacker fled on foot once the train arrived at the station.

The victim suffered some cuts and bruises, but he refused medical attention at the scene. He was able to recover his cellphone intact.

Police are asking anyone with information on the attack to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Anonymous tips can also be submitted on the Crime Stoppers website or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
