Broken Bow Starts Track Season at Aurora Invite

The Broken Bow boys and girls track teams began their season Friday at the Aurora Invitational.

It was a strong opening meet for the Broken Bow boys team as they finished third in the team standings behind champion Northwest and runner-up McCook.  In the field events, Coy Wardyn was champion in the boys pole vault.  Wardyn won the event with a winning effort of 14′.  Max Denson won the boys shot put with a winning effort of 51′ 3.5″.  On the track, Noah Osmond was a double gold medalist winning the 800 meters in a time of 2:05.78 and won the boys mile in a winning time of 4:41.23.  Zane Eggleston was a double gold medalist winning both hurdles events.  Eggleston won the boys 110 meter high hurdles in a time of 16.3 seconds and won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.84 seconds.  Other top three finishes for the Broken Bow boys included Brock Oeltjen and Jackson Hansen finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the 3200 meters.  The 4×400 meter relay team (Tyson Neely, Zane Eggleston, Jesus Flores, Asher Jensen) placed third.

On the girls side, Broken Bow finished fifth in the team standings with 77 points.  Broken Bow had two gold medal winners.  Halle Quinn was the girls 800 meter champion in a winning time of 2:33.12 and Taylor Schaaf won the girls discus in a winning effort of 106′ 10″.  Other top three finishes for the Bow girls included a runner up finish behind McCook in the girls 4×800 meter relay.  The team of Halle Quinn, Maren Chapin, Addison Ellis, and Jaycee Staples posted a time of 10:41.43 and Jaycee Staples placed third in the 3200 meter run.
