On Monday, high schools from around Tulsa visited the BAFD's training center to learn more about what it means to be a first responder.
Students got a chance to engage in hands-on learning experiences like trying on uniforms and talking with firefighters.
Fire officials say it has become increasingly difficult to recruit and hope that events like these can spark an interest in younger generations.
The Broken Arrow Fire Department says it plans on starting a program soon that will teach students more about what being a firefighter is all about.
